The field Social Justice and Equality places poor and marginalized citizens in the focus, by researching the conditions for building a society that provides equal rights and opportunities for progress and development to all.
Free and fair societies have the responsibility to provide protection of human and civil rights for every individual, regardless of their gender, age, ethnicity, sexual identity and socio-economic status.
The research in this field is aims at providing assistance in discovering and eliminating:
- prejudice which prevents groups and individuals to work together for the public good.
- discriminative rules, policies and practices that enhance the negative attitude towards and treatment of poor and marginalized groups and individuals.
- structural and systemic inequalities that have a negative impact on the vulnerable groups and citizens that have their rights denied.
